We have a lot of exciting, new learning planned for the Summer term. Here is a peep inside our curriculum.

This first half term in English, we are going to be conducting a study of the Shakespeare play, Romeo and Juliet’.

In the second half of the Summer term the class will study the writing techniques used in Phillip Pullman’s, ‘Grimm Tales for Young and Old’.

Mathematics in this half-term will cover statistics, fluency in arithmetic and multi-step worded problems.  In the second half-term the class will focus on deepening understanding of mathematics in real life contexts through larger scale projects such as designing, costing, constructing and ‘running’ a Lunar theme park.

In science, the class will investigate light and animals, including humans.

In History we will study the ancient civilisation of the Mayans.

In Geography the focus is on The Americas.

RE studies this term will focus on one of the major world faiths: Islam.

3D modelling will be the main focus of computing studies in the Summer term.

Music this term will allow the class to Celebrate Songs.

In PSHE, the class will focus on work around transition to Year 7.

In Spanish children are learning about Parallels and Meridians, Possessive adjectives, how to use a dictionary, the clothes I wear and comparing Spanish to French.

Our PE days are on Monday and Thursday. The class will develop their striking and fielding skills and take part in athletics activities.

This term will also provide pupils with the opportunity to develop their test technique and resilience, revise key knowledge and secure their understanding of key concepts to enable them to be ready to progress in all aspects of the primary curriculum and be prepared for the challenges ahead in KS3 and beyond.

Warhol class will visit their respective secondary schools for their transition days.  We will also plan, write, rehearse and perform the Year 6 leaver’s assembly.  The class will also make memories on our whole school trip to The Wilderness Foundation in Chatham Green.
