Warhol Class Spring Term 2025
We have a lot of exciting, new learning planned for the Spring term. Here is a peep inside our curriculum.
This first half term in English, we are going to be conducting a study of the Guardian advert, ‘The Three Little Pigs’, examining different perspectives, persuasive writing and balanced arguments. Also, in this half of the term, we will explore the novel ‘The Unforgotten Coat’, by Frank Cottrell Boyce. The children will explore the use of dialogue , past perfect tenses and descriptive language to create their own narrative inspired by the story.
In the second half of the Autumn term the class will study the writing techniques used in the novels ‘Suffragette’, by David Roberts and ‘The Invention of Hugo Cabaret’, by Brian Selznick. Both these novels will allow the children to explore different historical perspectives and use historical language their own writing.
Mathematics in this half-term will cover ratio, algebra and decimals in the second half-term the class will focus on Fractions, Decimals and percentages as well as area, perimeter and volume
In science, our focus is Electricity. The class will learn about circuits and switches, make fruit batteries and use their learning to design a machine to clean up litter.
In History the theme will be Changing Monarchy, exploring changes from the reign of King John through to our present King.
In Geography the focus Enough for Everyone. The children find out about where our food and power come from, how to conserve resources and whether power comes from renewable or non-renewable resources. The pupils will consider whether there are enough resources for everyone.
RE studies this term will ask the class to consider 2 key questions: What does it mean to be human; is being happy the greatest purpose in life? And, Creation or Science; complementary or conflicting?
Programming in games will be the main focus of computing studies in the first half-term and in the second half-term the class will study spreadsheets.
Music this term will allow the class to explore musical effects and moods.
In Art and Design Technology the children will learn about Central and South American art and artists using collage, clay and murals. Switches and circuits will be used to link with the class’s science learning to a design a machine which can collect litter.
In PSHE, the class will learn about all aspects of money and how it links to emotional wellbeing. The class will also explore their rights and responsibilities as global citizens looking at issues such as biodiversity, climate change and energy and water resources.
In Spanish children are learning about the Three Wise Men, geographical features and exploring a city, as well as character descriptions.
Our PE days are on Monday and Tuesdays. The class will develop their Volleyball, Netball, Gymnastics and Orienteering Skills.
This term will also provide pupils with the opportunity to develop their test technique and resilience, revise key knowledge and secure their understanding of key concepts to enable them to be ready to progress in all aspects of the primary curriculum and beyond.
