Spring Term 2025

We will be exploring the following texts: I want My Hat Back, 3 versions of Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Dinosaurs and all that Rubbish, and The Dragon Machine. The children  will be writing story sequels, own versions of stories, wanted posters, letters and a pamphlet.  In addition, the children will  continue their phonics learning in groups, practising sounds, reading texts and using their sounds to spell. The children who have come off phonics will be focussing on comprehension.

In maths, our focus for this term is place value, addition and subtraction, multiplication and division, length and height, and statistics.

In geography, our topic is the UK. We will be finding out about the four countries of the UK, their capital cities and the seas that surround the countries.

In history, we will be learning about the history of the emergency services.

In science, we will continue to be learning about living things and their habitats. We will be focussing on identifying and naming a variety of animals in their microhabitats (mini bests), understanding that animals and plants depend on each other, and describing a simple food chain. We will then move onto learning about plants.

In DT, we are going to be focussing on wheels and axels. Children will have the opportunity to investigate vehicles and to design their own.

Our PE focus will be gymnastics and Hockey.

In music, the children will learn about low and high pitch through a variety of different genres of music.  They will be working towards creating a performing a piece of music.

In computing, children will be working towards programming animations.

In PSHE, our focus is one world. This is inspired by the idea that we can benefit from learning about people living in different places to us and their ways of life. It aims to enable the children to explore their own family life, home and school and compare these to children’s family life, homes and school from around the world which are different from their own.

In RE, the children will learn about what the cross means to Christians.
