Attendance & Term Dates

It is important that your child attends school regularly and arrives on time at the start of the school day. Good attendance and punctuality at school will help your child achieve in the classroom and help them learn the importance of not being late.

THE SCHOOL TARGET FOR ATTENDANCE IS 96%

Attendance and punctuality is taken very seriously at Priory Primary School and is monitored closely by the school’s Leadership Team and LAC. Trends in lateness and absence will be quickly identified and appropriate action taken. An Educational Welfare Officer may become involved if there are ongoing concerns about your child’s attendance and punctuality at school.

Attendance

We consider good attendance to be essential. Children are expected to attend school every day throughout the academic year, unless there is a good reason for absence.

Full attendance is vital for every child’s educational progress.

The school regards absences as a very serious concern and there is an overwhelming connection between those pupils who are frequently absent and those who go on to underachieve in their future.

We understand that children have minor illnesses and at times are too sick to attend school.

When your child is absent, please ring the school office on the first day of absence by 8.30am.

Punctuality

Please can you ensure that your child arrives at school on time. Any child arriving later than 8.50am will be recorded as having arrived at school late.
